2021 World Men’s Curling Championship Preview

We have all you need to know for the 2021 World Men’s Curling Championship. First, we preview each team, including an interview with China’s coach, Sören Grahn. Then, we break the teams down into tiers and discuss the possible scenarios that will impact qualification for the 2022 Olympic Games. As many as six teams will punch their ticket to the Olympics so there is a lot on the line in Calgary.

How effective is your curling club’s onboarding?

Previously, we discussed how to utilize inexpensive marketing efforts to bring people into our curling organizations and then how to convert them into new curlers. Now, we’ll focus on what I would consider the most important aspect of new curler recruitment: Welcoming and onboarding new curlers into curling leagues.

We noted the importance of turning current curlers into boosters and enthusiasts when we discussed the concept of the curling sales funnel. The effectiveness of new curler onboarding goes a long way to determining not only if your new curlers will feel committed and connected to your organization, but if they’ll be retained at all.

The Global Initiative for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Curling has lofty goals. They want to inspire all of curling’s stakeholders (from the very top to the grassroots) to make the sport reflect the communities in which it’s played. We are joined by India’s P.N. Raju, the USA’s Monica Walker and Sweden’s Sara Carlson to discuss the campaigns, resources, policies and practices the initiative is pursing to reach these goals. From helping organizations assess where they are in their DEI journey to identifying biases, the group wants to offer support to those who want to make a positive impact on curling.
